America is also a medical tourism destination

Who says medical tourism is only good for those in the third world? Yes, it is a reality that cosmetic surgery costs in countries like Malaysia, India, or Philippines can be much less than here in the US but the fact still remains that America is influential in shaping the standards of beauty and people tend to fly in here to get the best cosmetic surgery treatment possible.

Dr. George Beraka is among those who have noticed an increase in cosmetic surgery patients flying in from various parts of Europe such as England, France, Italy, and Greece. There is an increase in the number of fly-in patients of about 15 percent from last year’s statistics.

Cosmetic Surgery Answers presents more details.

"With globalization, I think the American standard of beauty is becoming more widespread," Dr. Beraka says. "Because more U.S. models are pictured all over the globe, the standard for beauty has become a thin woman with large breasts, blonde hair and a heart shaped face with high cheek bones, a chiseled nose and a narrow jaw."

Another factor might be a weak dollar making the U.S. East Coast a bargain destination - "I see more patients from England than I do from California," Dr. Beraka says.

European patients often visit American surgeons for breast augmentation and scarless mid-facelift. Breast augmentation patients are divided into two groups: those at their 20s who disliked their breasts, and those at there mid 40s and early 50s who want to repair their deflated breasts.
