    • Liposuction for the skinny in: Body Contouring Tag(s):

The advent of microliposuction has raised concerns in the realms of cosmetic surgery. An article published in the New York Times points out that already-fit individuals still turn to liposuction for removing fat from obscure anatomical zones.

LOVE handles, saddlebags, turkey wattle. Self-conscious women have been trying to reduce those body areas for years. But now, with more efficient diets and fitness routines, women are turning to more obscure anatomical zones. The newest worries? "Bra fat" and "back fat."

    • On Cosmetic Surgery Financing in: Body Contouring Tag(s):

Cosmetic surgery procedures like liposuction or tummy tuck are really expensive.  As much as everyone wants to look and feel good about themselves through some fat removal here and there, it is difficult to do so especially when money is sparse and there are other concerns that need more attention.

An article from OCRegister.com talks about an alternative way for individuals to have cosmetic surgery without the need to really save up for it. And this is through cosmetic surgery financing. This is not entirely a new concept though, and this has already helped bring cosmetic surgery to people who can never afford it by the normal means.

    • Mini-Liposuction:Less Time, Great Results in: Body Contouring Tag(s):

In the previous entries of this blog, liposuction and tumescent liposuction were already discussed. Now, another body contouring procedure under the umbrella of liposuction is taking center stage. This procedure is developed by Los Angeles cosmetic surgeon Dr. David Amron and this is called mini-liposuction.

Mini-liposuction means exactly what it is, a shorter version of the liposuction procedure. Mini-liposuction is the ideal method to use when making spot reductions in one or two stomach areas of individuals who are closer to their ideal body weight. Basically, mini-lipo is suitable for those who need minimal fat reduction.

    • Tumescent Liposuction in: Body Contouring Tag(s):

Tumescent liposuction has been preferred by most liposuction surgeons over basic liposuction because of its ability to remove fat much easier and to do it in a much safer manner.

Basic liposuction and tumescent liposuction use the same principles. The only difference is that, in tumescent lipo, a large volume of fluid is injected into the area. This amount can probably be three to four times the amount of fat to be removed from the body. This technique enables the liposuction surgeon to remove large amounts of fat more uniformly with fewer skin irregularities, and less bruising and bleeding. This and more, prove that it is indeed a much safer method compared to basic liposuction.

    • Liposuction in: Body Contouring Tag(s):

Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty or suction lipectomy, is the most popular plastic surgery procedure nowadays. It involves removing fat from different areas of the body such as the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, neck, arms and other specific areas. The fat removal process involves the use of a cannula and aspirator.

Though liposuction generally gets rid of fat, it is not a low-effort alternative to exercise and diet. It is not a weight loss method. The amount of fat that is removed in the procedures varies by doctor, method, and patient, but on average, the amount is typically less than ten pounds or five kilograms. Going beyond this measure can cause a negative result such as unusual "lumpiness" and/or "dents" in the skin.
