Before, parents were having a problem with giving their children permission to have their ears pierced. Not long after, tattoos came about and parents had to deal with it as well. And now that times are changing and beauty is as its peak, they find themselves at the receiving end of requests for cosmetic surgery enhancements such as breast augmentation or rhinoplasty from their beloved children as birthday or graduation gifts.
The trend is alarming thus, one Australian lawmaker is planning to introduce new laws that would require teenagers to get referrals from their doctors and undergo counseling before having cosmetic surgery. SeattlePi tells the whole story.
But Dr. Norm Olbourne of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons said many young people have legitimate reasons for undergoing surgery, and that there was no statistical data to back the premier's claim that more teens are seeking purely cosmetic procedures.
Their is absolutely no problem with implementing certain rules and policies that would prevent teens from undergoing an unnecessary type of cosmetic surgery. After all, undergoing cosmetic surgery at such a young age is completely off and should not be tolerated by a cosmetic surgeon himself.
