Laser can damage the skin and leave it disfigured

Yes, especially if it is not administered well. Take the case of Jordan Miles from this article in Health 24.

Jordan responded to an ad from a clinic that promised to help get rid of teenage acne. She wanted her son to get treatment, but instead, she decided to make an appointment for herself to remove sunspots on her arms, back, and chest.

The next scenes were quite scary. Two women performed the procedure on her using laser on her chest and back. Jordan later found out that those two women neither had the necessary training for the procedure.

The outpatient procedure left Miles, a mental health counselor, in such excruciating pain that she vomited on her way home. Getting no helpful response from the clinic, she consulted a dermatologist, who confirmed that she was covered in red, stripe-like second- and third-degree burns that would leave lasting scars.

The redness subsided, but each burn drained the pigment from her skin, leaving Miles open to further skin problems should she ever expose the affected areas to the sun.

"I now have what looks like zebra stripes everywhere," Miles said. "I'm restricted from a lot of activities and types of clothing. It's terrible."

Not a pretty sight indeed but sad to say this type of events are rampant in cosmetic surgery nowadays. Too many people are drawn to cosmetic surgery offers that are remarkably cheaper than usual, hoping that they can save much for their makeovers. Little did they know that opting for cheaper alternatives are potentially dangerous and can even lead them to spend more than what they are supposed to, especially if severe complications arise from a botched surgery.

It is imperative then that people learn to do their homework and make informed decisions on cosmetic surgery. What happened to Jordan can be considered gruesome but there are far worse cases than that. Some folks didn’t even have the chance to speak about their botched surgeries because the operations performed on them by incompetent plastic surgery centers and spas have already cost them their lives.

That was scary! People should really be careful with choosing the right surgeon in order to avoid mishaps like this.
