Lebanese bank offers life raft loans for plastic surgery

News has it that cosmetic surgery has hit it big in Lebanon. The trend is surprising considering that the country is experiencing a certain degree of political crisis as of the moment. Despite the current political situation, people continue to flock to their plastic surgeons for a nip and tuck, probably hoping that beauty enhancement might drive away life’s troubles in Lebanon.

In response to this growing trend, a Lebanese bank is offering to finance plastic surgery through a plastic surgery loan. First National Bank is willing to provide financial assistance to people who are seeking to improve their looks through cosmetic surgery.

First National Bank’s “Plastic Surgery Loan” allows people to get financial assistance from the bank to cover as much as $5,000 to cover client’s plastic surgery operations and orthodontics. This is according to the banks website, which also promises that people can now have the life they have always wanted.

George Nasr, First National Bank’s marketing manager told Reuters that statistical studies proved that there is a huge increase in the sphere of beautification surgery. He added that the trend has opened new horizons. The bank then is trying to make the most out of the growing market and is indeed offering people the opportunity to get their desired cosmetic surgery makeover.

The bank’s plastic surgery clients are usually those who are disfigured by accident and war. There are also those who are simply looking for a way to improve the way they look.

Upon implementation of the Plastic Surgery Loan, the bank is currently receiving more than 200 phone calls a day since the launch of an advertising campaign last week.

Looking good has always been the part of the Lebanese culture, says Nasr. "We like to look our best ... There are people who see this loan as their life raft," he said.
