Considering the fact that liposuction has long been performed by many cosmetic surgeons on many patients for many years, it is quite astounding to note that there are still liposuction side effects that we never really hear about before.
Let’s take the case of avid runner Debbie Kubeit who had liposuction to smooth out some trouble spots on her tummy. Six months after the surgery, she found out that she got a little more than what she wanted.
ABC12 tells more:
Six months after liposuction, Debbie's bra size grew from a 34 b to 36C. When she told her surgeon, Dr. Eric Finzi, he said she wasn't alone.
"We saw that it's almost half of the women who I had done liposuction of their stomach and waist had an increase in breast size."
Finzi published a study of 60 patients that found significant breast enhancement naturally occurred in 43 percent of women who had liposuction, generally one to two cup sizes. "When you remove this fat, then the other hormones in the body are able to increase the breast size," he explained.
This natural breast enlargement may not really sound like a disturbance to some especially those who are also looking forward to have their breasts augmented. Lucky are you if that’s the only thing that comes up after the operation. Other liposuction side effects are less friendly than the former. They include scarring, depressions or divots in the skin and numbness that can last for months.
Cosmetic surgeons stress that problems like these develop under general anesthesia. Those who employed local anesthesia are somewhat spared from this particular dilemma. Thus, liposuction techniques that employ local anesthesia and sedation such as tumescent lipoplasty are considered less risky.
