Cosmetic surgery has grown so much for the past years that surgeons have noticed a considerable increase in the number of males who are willing to go under the knife. In fact, many others have already undergone different procedures to modify those unsightly portions of their anatomy and achieve the shape and look they desired to have. According to this news story, the number of men who are considering plastic surgery has shot up to remarkable levels.

When I began practice almost 40 years ago, we would see one man for every 20 women for cosmetic surgery. But now we see one man for probably every four women.

Men tend to be secretive about their cosmetic surgery endeavors; trying hard not to attract attention on the methods they have construed to improve their looks. While that attitude might be considered to produce a barricade for men to engage in cosmetic surgery procedures, this is not so as of the moment, thanks to the presence of “under the radar” procedures – those that involve laser technology.

Laser-assisted procedures such as laser liposuction or laser skin treatments provide less downtime, so practically, the likelihood of anybody noticing you going through a certain surgical procedure is highly reduced.

The growing fondness of men to cosmetic surgery can be attributed to the way our perspective of beauty has evolved through the years. Today, we give value and importance not only to good looks but also to heath and well-being.

More often than not, men undergo cosmetic surgery procedures such as liposuction and tummy tuck as a stepping-stone for achieving a fit and healthy physique later on. Since the effects of these procedures don’t last long without the patient’s regular fitness maintenance, men are more encouraged to go to fitness clubs now that they have a new shape to start with.

Another interesting issue that arose concerning male cosmetic surgery is the emergence of discrimination in favor of fit and young professionals in the workplace. Cosmetic surgeons have included work-related concerns such as promotions and retrenchments as strong contributing factors for employees to consider cosmetic surgery as a key to rejuvenating a sagging career.

Lastly, regardless of the motives behind every cosmetic procedure, the sudden influx of men turning to cosmetic surgery for help nails down the point that cosmetic surgery is gearing towards its most defining moments.
