Bottoming out is a condition where a breast implant become displaced over time and has dropped too low on the chest. This condition is common to women with older breast implants. Women complain that one breast sits higher than the other one because of uneven implant pocket formation.

Capsulorrhaphy is the traditional technique for repairing bottoming out. In this procedure, the scar capsule supporting the implant is brought together to close off the pocket where the implant sits. However, Dr. Robert Frank, a board-certified plastic surgeon doesn’t think that this is a good option.

Unfortunately, sewing weak tissues together and then replacing the implant which caused the initial stress is a setup for failure. [eMediaWire]

This is where Dr. Frank’s new technique comes in for the kill. Franks technique employs a patented mesh sling to support and bear the weight of the implant. The mesh not only closes off the defect caused by stretched tissue but also acts as a scaffold for new scar tissue.

Dr. Frank has already applied his mesh sling technique to more than 30 women. So far, the reviews are great. The new technique also helped women whose implants fall into their armpits when they lay back. The cleavage that they fell in love with after their initial surgery has now come back. Mesh sling got the women beaming.
