Bradenton Herald has observed the growing trend in cosmetic surgery. Gone are the days when cosmetic surgery was the exclusive option for the rich and famous. Today, it’s all out for middle-class folks to avail; as common as having a facial.

From liposuction to breast augmentations to face-lifts, fat-purging, age-defying, beautifying surgery is booming. Last year, reports the 6,000-member American Society of Plastic Surgeons, some 1.8 million of those surgical procedures were performed, up 4 percent from 2004.

Generally, cosmetic-surgery trends can be summed up as sooner, smaller, more natural.

Minimally invasive techniques enable patients to have something done in less than an hour. Lunch-time facelifts along with injectable fillers and other laser procedures produce amazing results without downtime.

Smaller procedures are popular with younger patients. Microliposuction, for instance, allows patients to have some fat removal or tightening here and there. They don’t have to wait for a major overhaul to acquire the desired look.

Improved surgical techniques enable facelifts to produce more natural results. This is aside from the fact that more and more patients are coming in at a younger age. Today, surgery has matured to the point where the windswept look has become the thing of past. Patients can now expect to look just like themselves, only better.
