There’s a growing interest in plastic surgery procedures that cater to correcting problems of the already fit. First, there was micro-liposuction, a body-contouring procedure that removes excess fat from stubborn areas. This was primarily designed for women who are already reached their ideal weight but still suffer from unsightly bulges.

Now, a new procedure specially designed for men has already been created. And this procedure will be what we all come to know as Torsoplasty.

Health News Digest has this to say:

Dr. Elliot Jacobs, MD, FACS, one of New York’s top aesthetic surgeons and author of Mantalk: Tips from the Pros for Great Looks, Good Health and Maintaining Your Competitive Edge says he’s noticed an increase in both the number of plastic surgery procedures and the types of procedures that men are looking to undergo.

“There is a new group of men who are relatively fit but may have a few extra pounds and a few extra bulges that they just can’t seem to lose,” Dr. Jacobs said. They aren’t looking to drastically change their bodies but want to firm up their problem areas with a natural-looking result.

He’s developed a new surgical procedure that he calls “torsoplasty” which combines separate procedures that sculpt the chest, take inches off of the midsection and obliterate those hard-to-eliminate love handles. “In one procedure, I can give them a shape that diet and exercise simply can’t give them,” Dr. Jacobs explains.

Jacobs calls it Torsoplasty because he is working on the entire torso – the area from the neck down to the groin. He also says this treatment is not for men who are obese. Men have to be healthy and reasonably fit to qualify for the procedure.
